Christchurch and East Dorset Councils Leaders and partners have been out in Wimborne to support Small Business Saturday on 2 December.
Small Businesses across Christchurch and East Dorset are invited to get involved in this national initiative, now in its fifth year, which raises the profile of small businesses and encourages people to shop locally and support independent businesses.

Small Business Saturday is a national not-for-profit campaign to help promote small businesses across the UK. Wimborne BID, in partnership with Wimborne Chamber of Commerce, is hosting a series of events in town including a networking event on the 1st December at Priest House Museum. The event focuses on how the media and local government can support small businesses with Darren Slade of the Bournemouth Echo, Marilyn Barber of Stour and Avon plus Michael Tomlinson MP in attendance.

Small businesses have an important role to play in the UK economy and jobs market, this means the Small Business Saturday events  that take place across the country really help to promote small businesses not only in Christchurch and East Dorset but also across the UK.

Cllr David Flagg, Leader of the Council, Christchurch Borough Council, said: “As a small business owner myself, it is a pleasure to celebrate Small Business Saturday. It is a great opportunity to recognise the creativity and hard work of the individuals who put so much into making their small businesses a success.”
Cllr Spencer Flower, Leader of the Council, East Dorset District Council, said: “Small businesses are valuable to both our local communities and the wider economy. Small Business Saturday is a great campaign giving small businesses a platform to promote what they have to offer.”
